Next apps to benchmark?
« on: 05/12/09 01:43:36 pm »
We're working on rapid expansion here at 3D Speed Machine and we're adding more benchmarks as often as possible. This is a community-driven site, so we'd love to know what applications you'd like to see benchmarked next. Right now we're focused on 3D apps, so it's best if your suggestion fits in that category, but we have plans for future expansion, so if you'd really like to see benchmarks for Photoshop, or even games, let us know!

And don't forget, because we are not users of every 3D app out there, we always need your benchmark scene submissions. So if you work with an application that doesn't yet have a benchmark here, put together a little benchmark scene and send it in!

We're working on Vue 7.5. We do have Maya 2k9 benchs for MentalRay already. Did you want something else?

Do all the other apps have benchmarking possibilities/modes? I'm particularly uncertain about Zbrush. I know Mudbox does though.

As users of these apps, you can contribute benchmark scenes for others to run. You'll help grow the results database and the community, and help yourself as well since you'll get results for comparison.

Just trying to breathe new life into the website. i just did my first DIY i7-930 and loaded the latest in Autodesk and Maxon software. We need to build test files for the following:

                        1. Maya 2011
                        2. Softimage 2011
                        3. Cinema 4D 11.5
                        4. Vue 8.5 ( I only have 8)

Anyway I will try to find some test files to see how the latest intel chips work along wth benchmarks for the new line of Firepro series since they are affordable!

We'd love to get test files for all you've listed. Currently I have no access to any of those apps to make benchmarks myself.
We are however working on a pretty major overhaul to the site which should go live in the next month or two, so keep an eye out for that. Much improved searching, sorting, and benchmark display, new design, etc. And a solid foundation for bigger future improvements as well.
I'll also be able to participate a lot more here, and will be working to bring more app benchmarks on to the site.
